Art is a wonderful thing. It sprinkles so many aspects of our lives and shows us the beauty in the little things. Art makes the board games we play more immersive and full of life! Art Decko, combines two things I adore: Board Games and the enjoyment of the little things.
~~~
Art Decko is a deck-building game, however, I don't feel it's one in the same sense as others. You do choose what goes into your deck, but those choices are based on an increasing market making the art pieces in your hand worth more money. When a genre of art is purchased the worth goes up! This in turn allows you to exhibit and buy at higher prices. Eventually leading to adding up the worth of your art collection at the end.
~~~
Your hand always has cards useful to purchase things because it is always increasing in value. Timing which cards to get based on what people are making more popular drives many of the decisions. It's this combination of sort of stock market/sort of deck-building that makes this one so unique for me. We haven't played a deck-builder quite like it.
~~~
I also feel the aesthetic matches exceptionally well. All the art was done by multiple artists to give the look and feel of museum level art. It all feels reminiscent of art you may have seen before which we find fun.
With nearly a dozen plays we still find ourselves coming back to it's calming atmosphere and the perfect amount of thinkyness. Rio Grande keeps hitting it out of the park for us lately and we hope to continue to introduce this unique design to many tables in the months to come. ✨
